Land O' Lakes, Florida -- At forums the Pasco County School District has held to discuss moving to a four-day school week, parents have generally ranged from skeptical to hostile.
But there's a reality here.
Pasco County Schools say they're sure to be in the hole more than...more $20 million this coming fiscal year, and that number could end up being more than $50 million.
So at 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Pasco School Board will hear what a task force found when it looked into a four-day school week.
The idea is to close schools on Monday or Friday, then add the lost class time from that missing day onto the other four days of the week.
The board is not expected to vote on this issue Tuesday. It's going to be a "just the facts, ma'am" kind of presentation.
